Microsoft released Windows 10 as a free upgrade to users of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1. So the big question everyone is asking is, "Should I take advantage of the free upgrade?".
Well, there's a few things that you should consider:
- Is everything working fine in my current installation? There's the old adage, "If it ain't broke; don't fix it"
- I personally don't find anything compelling enough in the Windows 10 environment that screams UPGRADE! There are a few new features, but nothing the standard user would probably use.
- Do I have a full image type backup of my system? I have had a number of customers that have brought their systems in after performing the "upgrade". They've made either bad decisions during the process or the upgrade "glitched" and they lost everything and required a full re-installation of their system. This can be costly and time consuming; and if you had any documents of value and didn't have a backup, you've lost the data.
